Bertha M. (George) Derr

Bertha M. (George) Derr, 90, of Bloomsburg, (Hemlock Township), went to be with the Lord late Saturday evening, July 5, 2025 at Brookdale, Bloomsburg.

Born November 14, 1934 in Catawissa, she was the daughter of the late William Benjamin George and Anna (Stroza) George, of Catawissa. In addition  to her  parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gele L. Derr on February 16, 2009 and by a sister, Elizabeth George in 1945.

She was a graduate of Catawissa High School.  She was a member of the Bloomsburg Christian Church; a member of the Fernville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

In  her younger years, she was employed by Sunshine Laundry and Bloomsburg State College.  She also assisted with the family auction business, Derr's Auction Service and Derr and Kapp's Auction Service.

She enjoyed being a homemaker and was known for her cooking and baking for her family.  She loved traveling, playing cards with her friends, and was a champion ladder golf player.  In her early years, she spent every weekend camping in a new location with the Bloomin Campers Club. 

Surviving are her two daughters:  Tammy Derr and her husband, Terry Dollman, of Bloomsburg; Darlene Snook and her husband, David, of New Berlin; three grandchildren:  Renee Schweitzer and husband, Christopher;  Andrew Sauers and his wife Kaleigh and Hannah Kritzer and husband, Adam; four great grandchildren:  Nicholas Schweitzer, Addison and Kassidy Sauers and Ruby Kritzer; three step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11 AM at the Bloomsburg Christian Church, 107 Deussen Drive, Bloomsburg, with Pastor George Johns, officiating.  Viewing will be held Saturday, from 10 AM until the time of the service at the Church.  Burial will be in the Millville Cemetery.
