Betty Jean (Musselman) Yaple

Betty Jean (Musselman) Yaple, 92, of New Columbus Borough, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Bonham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Stillwater. 

Born January 13, 1931 in Weatherly, Carbon County, she was a daughter of the late George and Carrie (Gerhardt) Musselman.  She was also preceded in death by her sisters:  Viola Musselman and Elma Reynolds and by a brother, Lloyd Musselman.

Betty graduated from Benton High School in 1948.  On December 31, 1949 she married her high school sweetheart, Harold Yaple, in the New Columbus Methodist Church by Rev. William Price.  They were married for 73 years this past December.

Betty managed the Country Accents store in Bloomsburg for several years and was a devoted wife and mother the rest of her adult life.  She loved music and singing and was very active in the Town Hill United Methodist Church and Choir.

She will be greatly missed by her surviving husband, Harold L. Yaple; three sons:  Gary Yaple and his wife, Cindy of New Columbus; Randy Yaple and his wife, Diane of Lipan, Texas; Doug Yaple and his wife, Brenda, of New Columbus  and a daughter, Lori Yaple Diltz and her husband, Randy, of New Columbus. 

Betty loved being with her family and thoroughly enjoyed ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.  Her grandchildren are:  Aaron Yaple and his companion, Amy Shea; Mike Yaple and his wife, Erin; Jenna Swartz and her husband, Jarrett;  Ashley Hixon and her husband, Derek; Ryan Yaple and  his wife, Rhea; Kirsten Murphy and her husband, Ryan; Molly Bybee and her husband, Tom; Mandy Yaple, Danni and Alan Diltz.  

 Friends and Relatives will be received Saturday, February 11th, 2023 from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 at the Town Hill United Methodist Church.  Services will begin at 11 AM at the Church with Rev. Tyler Rauhauser, her Pastor, officiating. Private burial will be in the New Columbus Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Town Hill United Methodist Church, 417 Town Hill Road, Shickshinny, PA 18655. 

 As the remainder of the family continues to gather on the porch at the Yapledale homestead, we will surely miss Grammy's love and her famous chocolate chip cookies.
