Bruce R. Roberts, 82, of rural Stillwater (Huntington Township) died Monday afternoon, August 14, 2023 at the Gardens at Orangeville where he had been a resident since January.
Born May 14, 1941 in Dallas, Luzerne County, he was a son of the late John P. Roberts, who died September 25, 1988 and Blanche Frances (Bay) Roberts, who died June 17, 2009. He and his wife, Charlene J. (Hess) Roberts, celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on June 20th.
Bruce attended Lake Lehman Schools and later Benton High School. He faithfully served his country in the U. S. National Guard, 109th Infantry Division.
He had been employed by the Charles D. Roberts Company in Stillwater for 30 years until his retirement and had worked at the Benton Foundry in his younger years.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He also enjoyed watching sports with Penn State, Kansas and the L. A. Dodgers being his favorite teams.
Along with his wife, Charlene, are his three children: Bruce A. Roberts, Stillwater; Joseph R. Roberts, Stillwater; Julie A. Dacri and her husband, Joseph, of Laurel Run; four grandchildren: Joseph Dacri, Samantha Dacri, Alexis Roberts and her companion, Tyler Swisher and Courtney Roberts; three great grandchildren: Braden, Layla and Carson.
Also surviving are his siblings: Blanche Getz, of Benton; Thelma Wehner, Bloomsburg; Lela Wills, of Tampa, FL; Theresa Kubasek and her husband, Joseph, of Benton; Nancy L. Slusser and her husband, Richard, of Benton; Guy G. Roberts and his wife, Joanne, of Benton; Lori L. Tunaitis, and her husband, James, of Benton as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters: Delores Sorber, Margaret Husted, Sally M. Brown, Betty Ann Amos and by three brothers: Arlington William Roberts, John R. Roberts and Richard J. Roberts and by a sister-in-law, Susan Roberts.
Private Services will be held at the convenience of the Family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Activity Department / The Gardens of Orangeville, 200 Berwick Road, Orangeville, PA 17859.
