Carol L. (Shelhamer) Wall, 63, of Dallas and formerly of North Centre Township, died Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at the Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dallas following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born November 27, 1959 in Berwick, she was a daughter of Kent D. Shelhamer, Sr., of North Centre Township and the late Mary J. (Holmes) Shelhamer, who died April 1, 2022. She and her loving husband, Jerry C. Wall, would have celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary on December 6th.
Carol was raised on the family orchard in North Centre Township, near Orangeville, and was a 1977 graduate of Central Columbia High School and a 1981 graduate of Bloomsburg State College, where she was a member of Phi-Kappa-Phi. She was a News Intern for WNEP in 1980.
She was employed by Commonwealth Telephone Company from 1982 to 1987 in Public Relations and for College Misericordia for a year. She was also self employed as a freelance writer from 1990 to 1993. She had also been employed by Convergys, Cellular Billing Systems and later, Alltel.
Carol and Jerry met and dated at Commonwealth Telephone Company in 1982 and were married on December 6th, 1986.
She enjoyed family vacations to Virginia Beach, Ocean City, MD; Cape May NJ; New England, Boothbay Harbor and Monhegan Island, Maine; Mt. Washington, NH and day trips to the Gettysburg Battlefields.
Carol was a faithful member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church where she served as the pianist and choir director. She was also very involved in the community with Leadership Wilkes-Barre; the American Cancer Society, the Back Mountain Arts Association and the Dallas Harvest Festival.
Surviving, in addition to her loving husband, Jerry, are her father, Kent D. Shelhamer, Sr.; brother, Kent Shelhamer, Jr. and his companion, Lori; two sisters: Rebecca Knorr and her husband, Bob; Cindy Sides and her husband, Fred; sister-in-law, Carolyn Shelhamer; nieces and nephews: Carl Shelhamer; Molly Flick and her husband, Jarrod; Jenna Hutchison and her husband, David; Jeff Knorr and his wife, Stephanie; Jean Elizabeth Knorr; Julie Youssefi and husband, Tony; Bryan and John Shelhamer; and four grand nephews: Zakariah, Elias and Joseph Youssefi and Maxwell Shelhamer.
Along with her mother, Mary, she was preceded in death by a brother, Steven L. Shelhamer on May 24, 2022.
A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, November 26th, 2023 from 3 to 5 PM at the Stillwater Christian Church, 39 McMichael St., Stillwater. The funeral service will be held Monday morning, November 27th, 2023 at 10 AM at the Stillwater Christian Church, with Pastor Scott Lyons, officiating. Interment will be at the Ebenezer Cemetery, North Centre Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Ebenezer Cemetery, c/o Donald Edwards, 89 Mountain Road, Berwick, PA 18603.
