Carolyn "Lyn" (Miller) Ruppel, 72, of rural Stillwater (Benton Township), died at her home Tuesday afternoon, August 18, 2020. She had been seriously ill since April.
Born August 27, 1947 in Wilmington, Delaware, she was a daughter of the late Roland and Margery (Dawson) Miller.
Lyn was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School in Wilmington, Delaware and later earned her LPN and RN degrees in nursing. She had been employed as an RN for several local nursing homes and also taught health occupations at the Red Rock Job Corps Center.
She served as a volunteer at the Salvation Army Service Center in Bloomsburg for the past five years.
Lyn enjoyed hummingbirds, cardinals and trips to the casinos in Atlantic City. She was also an avid reader.
Surviving are her husband, Robert "Bob" Ruppel; two children: Jay Campbell and his wife, Carol, of Harrington, Delaware; Margie Hordnes and her husband, Chris, of Stillwater; two grandchildren: J. J. VanArsdall and his wife, Jackie; Kiri Hordnes and her fiancée, Jason Maneval; five great grandchildren and a sister, Sally Fritz and her husband, Randy, of Stillwater.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kelley Campbell; two brothers, Lee and Timothy Miller and by a sister, Julia Hartnett.
Private Funeral Services will be held Friday evening at 6 P. M. at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton, with Chaplain Bob Barner, officiating. A Viewing will be held Friday from 4 until the time of the service at 6 PM at McMichael's. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Family.
