Curtis E. Creveling, 87, of rural Stillwater (Fishing Creek Township), and of Fort Pierce, Florida, died Sunday evening, June 11, 2023 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born October 3, 1935 in Fishing Creek Township, he was a son of the late Woodrow C. and Helen G. (Rough) Creveling. He and his wife, H. Elaine (Krewson) Creveling, celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on January 16th.
Mr. Creveling was a 1953 graduate of Benton High School and was a self employed farmer and also operated a trucking business until his retirement at the age of 80.
He was an active member of St. James United Church of Christ, where he served on the Consistory Board and also assisted with the Ice Cream Festivals. He was a 4-H Leader years ago and enjoyed playing cards and watching baseball.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Elaine, are his four children: Samuel E. Creveling and his wife, Laurie, of Stillwater; Charles E. "Chuck" Creveling and his wife, Billie Jo, of Benton; Diane Smith and her husband, Terrance, of Warwick, PA; Deborah Wyman and her husband, Roland, of Washington, NC; Also surviving are five grandchildren: Tyler and Margaret Creveling; Lydia Gadalla, Erin Lake and Breanna Wenner; six great grandchildren: Justin and Alyson Lake; Brantley Creveling, Madison Mowrer and Remington and Blakely Wenner; Also surviving are his siblings: Eileen Knouse and her companion, Wayne Laidacker, of Bloomsburg; Lee Creveling and his wife, Betty, of Berwick; Albert Creveling, of Berwick and a number of nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Chad C. Creveling, on November 28, 1999; a daughter, Brenda Lee Creveling on January 21, 1959 and a brother, Zane R. Creveling on October 13, 2009.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 16, 2023 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (State Route 487) with Rev. Mark E. Rowell, his Pastor, officiating. A viewing
will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at McMichael's and Friday morning from 10 AM until the time of the Service. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Fishing Creek Township. Contributions may be made in his memory to St. James United Church of Christ, 443 Zaners Bridge Road, Stillwater, PA 17878.
