Daniel Lee Schultz, 76, of Orangeville, died Saturday afternoon, September 20, 2025 at his home after a brief cancer illness.
He was born March 11, 1949 in Berwick, son of the late William K. “Bill” and Catherine (Aikman) Schultz. Survived by his wife, Linda (Belles), whom he married on March 12, 2002.
Dan graduated from Central Columbia High School. He attended Penn State University before serving in the United States Air Force. In the Air Force, Dan was an Instrumentation Mechanic Technician stationed at a secret HQ Space and Missile System Organization facility in California. After his service he studied TV repair at a school in Denver, CO and became an Associate Instructor of Electronics at Denver Community College. He was recruited from there to work for General Motors Co. in the High Altitude Admission Lab in Denver. Dan retired from there and moved back to PA and worked at his father’s electroplating shop and went on to get a job at Bloomsburg University working in the Carpenter shop as a Locksmith until his retirement.
Dan was a big outdoorsman. He enjoyed fly fishing and had many trips to Alaska and Canada. He especially enjoyed hunting out west. He got his wife interested in hunting and she accompanied him on trips to Wyoming and Montana. He enjoyed his cabin in Sullivan County that he shared with his brother, where he spent a lot of time hunting and cutting wood.
Dan also enjoyed woodworking, making different projects for friends in his shop, and gardening, he always had beautiful flowers in his yard. He loved traveling with his wife across the country visiting national parks and friends who lived out west.
He loved sharing stories of previous hunting and fishing trips with friends and family. Dan had a great sense of humor and could always make his wife laugh. He loved his favorite cat “Poobut” which he named and he also loved a good bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Linda, are a brother, Steve of Orangeville; a sister, Karen Nicolls and her husband Peter Boyer of Bloomsburg; his nephew Todd Schultz and his wife, Jill of Bloomsburg who he always enjoyed doing outdoor activities with and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Joan Schultz.
Contributions on his behalf can be made to any animal rescue shelter of your choice. There will be no formal services per Dan’s request, a Celebration of Life will take place at the convenience of the family.
