Daniel S. Swires, 83, of Divide (Jackson Township), died Saturday, November 27th, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born Nov. 26, 1938 in Dean, Cambria County, he was a son of the late Howard and Julia (Funicelli) Swires. He and his wife, Dottie J. (Gearhart) Swires, celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary on July 5th.
Dan was a graduate of Altoona High School and then entered the U. S. Army, where he faithfully served for 10 years. He was a past commander of the Millville American Legion.
He had been employed as the head greens-keeper at Mill Race Golf Course in Benton for 17 years.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Dottie, are two stepchildren: Kimberly Evans and her husband, Ed; Donnie Rhone and his wife, Debbie; two sons: Curtis Swires and his wife, Donna; Randy Swires; a daughter, Angela Pierce; four grandchildren; one great granddaughter; a brother, Tim Swires and his wife, Cheryl and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Swires, Jr. and by the following siblings: Tom, Teddy, Ralph, Henry Allen, Marian, Sarah and Margaret.
