David A. Artman, 77, of North Centre Township, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early Monday morning, April 12th, 2021 at his home.
Born January 22, 1944 in Berwick, he was a son of the late Arthur and Helen (Zadiraka) Artman. He and his wife, Helen (Naus) Artman, would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on October 17th.
David was a 1961 graduate of Central Columbia High School. He furthered his education at Bloomsburg State College where he graduated in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He later graduated from the University of Scranton in 1975 with a Master's of Science degree.
He was a well known area educator, working first as a teacher and later as a principal at the Columbia-Montour Area Vocational-Technical School from 1969 until his retirement in 2001. He had previously taught school in Auburn and Weedsport, New York for four years.
David was also a farmer and honored the Lord's command to be a good steward of the land. He served on the Farm Service Agency County Committee and was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau.
He was a dedicated and long time member of the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church where he faithfully served as a Lay Leader, Sunday School Teacher, and was a member of the church board. He was known as an advocate for missions.
David served as a North Centre Township Supervisor and was Chairman of the Board of the Briar Creek Mutual Insurance Company for many years.
