David W. Bardo, 78, of Benton, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at the UPMC Williamsport Hospital.
Dave was born December 2, 1947 in Bloomsburg, son of the late Eugene & Leona (Keeler) Bardo.
He graduated from Benton H.S. in 1966 and immediately enlisted in the military where he proudly served in the U.S. Army, Army Reserves and National Guard for 12 years during the Vietnam conflict. After returning from his military service Dave became an entrepreneur, most recently running the Central Park Hotel with his wife, Rose. He served 48 years as a volunteer firefighter with Benton, North Mountain, and Unityville. He was a member of East Greenwood Hunting Cabin, Racks Unlimited, and the Orangeville Sportsmen’s Club. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, tending to his garden, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rose (O’Handley) Bardo; his children, Elizabeth Derr and her husband, Michael of Benton, J. Douglas Bardo and his wife, Mary Grace of Central, David Paul Bardo and his wife, Rachel of Sunbury, Julie Wang and her husband, Henry of NY, and Jennifer Kaleinek and her husband, Michael of Shickshinny; grandchildren, Kearsten, Zeke, Hailey, Hunter, Brittney, Caden, Nathan, Colton, and Austin; six great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Gene Bardo and his wife, Sherry, and Rick Bardo and his wife, Maryann.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026 at 12 p.m. at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., in Benton, with Pastor Scott Lyons officiating. A visitation will precede the service beginning at 10 a.m. where the family will receive friends.
