David Hartman Obituary

David A. Hartman, 75, of Benton, passed away peacefully and with his family at his side Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at UPMC Williamsport.  Born in Bloomsburg on August 7, 1948, he was a son to the late Elmer and Frances (Hayes) Hartman.

Mr. Hartman was a graduate of Benton High School, Class of 1966.  He was a skilled mechanic who operated his own garage for many years.  Later, he served as head of maintenance at the Benton Foundry.  In addition to these roles, he also found great joy in farming.  He was an amazing steward of the land who believed in leaving it better than he found it.  On February 24, 1979, he wed the former Donna K. Boudman.  Together, they raised their family and shared 45 years of marriage.  David was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed restoring and refurbishing vintage farm equipment and was a charter member of the Benton Rodeo Association.  He had a great love for horses and Charlie Lamont had passed on to him the art of gentle horse training.  David would often quip that you can see what man has made from the seat of your car, but you can only see what God made from the back of a horse.  He was an immensely talented jack of all trades and his family would joke that he had built his own crib.

Surviving David is his beloved wife, Donna K. (Boudman) Hartman; daughter, Stephanie L. Brooker and husband, Brian, of Benton; son, Tyler W. Hartman and wife, Kristy, of Lairdsville; grandchildren:  Chase Brooker and Peyton Hartman; and brother-in-law, Abe Miller.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Hartman Miller.David wished to thank the staff of UPMC Williamsport for their unwavering faith and the extra time that he was afforded by their care.  He also wished to thank the friends who helped him throughout the last year.  They know who they are.
