David L. Sanchez, 79 of Mechanicsburg PA entered into Eternal Life, on October 31, 2024, following a long battle with cancer.
David was born in Benton, Pennsylvania on February 16, 1945 to Cora and Jose-Benito Sanchez and was the youngest of six children. After spending his high school years in Lansdale, he graduated from North Penn High School in 1963. He then attended Temple University and Millersville University where completed his undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Education and Counseling.
After relocating to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, David worked as a math teacher then guidance counselor at John Harris High School for over thirty years helping students achieve success and improve their lives. David then held a position as Financial Aid Advisor at the Harrisburg Area Community College. He was passionate about the teacher’s union, and sat on various boards and lecture series throughout his career.
He was also passionate about his faith, and maintaining his family property in Benton, Pennsylvania which he painstakingly built from the ground up. He loved building and using his extensive gifts of engineering and design to help family and friends with various projects.
David is predeceased by his father Jose-Benito, and his beloved mother Cora, whom he lost at a young age. He is also predeceased by his first wife, Kathryn as well as siblings Joseph Sanchez, Philip Sanchez, Shirley Parker, and Carmen Maytum.
He is survived by his daughter, Christine Sanchez and son-in-law, Kent Whiting, of Camp Hill and his daughter, Stacy Glackin and son-in-law, Brian Glackin, of Boyertown and grandchildren Lucas and Liam Glackin. He is also survived by sister Jacqueline Schneider as well as many nieces and nephews, and wife, Norma.
Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Sugarloaf Township. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial gifts to St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, New Cumberland, Pennsylvania.
