Dean Hess, 87, of Stillwater went to live forever with his Lord and Savior on February 23, 2023.
Dean was born February 18, 1936, to the late Glen and A. Eltheda (Keefer) Hess. He graduated from Benton High School in 1954 and married Mary C. Moore on March 18, 1957.
Dean loved farming. In addition to being a farmer, Dean pursued other vocations in his life including driving school bus and being a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service. He and his wife, Mary, worked together building an Amway business. In his younger years, Dean was active in the local Kiwanis Club and the Benton Flying Club. He enjoyed deer hunting, and he was deeply dedicated to his church, where he served as a board member and deacon for many years.
Dean is survived by his wife, Mary C. (Moore) Hess, with whom he would have celebrated their 66th anniversary in March. Also surviving are their three children: Debra Hess of Dolgeville, NY; Dennis Hess and his wife, Beth, of Aurora, OR, and Kerry (Hess) Vincent and her husband, Paul, of Stillwater. He took great joy in his five grandchildren: Aaron Vincent, Matthew Vincent, Justin Vincent, Valerie Hess Thomas and Gwyn Hess Wellborn; his 14 great grandchildren; and his many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by brothers and sister-in-laws, Agnes Hess, of Stillwater; Gary and Suzanne (Moore) Haywood and William and Mary Moore, all of Bloomsburg.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William F. Hess and his great aunt Ruth (Keefer) Geese.
A Celebration of Dean's life will be held on Tuesday, February 28th, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Benton United Methodist Church, with Pastor Mark Shellenberger, officiating. Private burial will be in the Hamline Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the church on Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of the Service at 11.
