Dorothy E. (Owen) Fritz,
90, of Sugarloaf Township, died late Sunday evening, May 9th, 2021 at her home.
Born March 30, 1931 in
Plainsville, Luzerne County, she was a daughter of the late Charles William
Owen, Sr. and Ruth Elizabeth (Bray) Owen.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Douglas H.
"Doug" Fritz, on February 15, 2014.
She had been employed by
the former Dockey Shirt Factory of Benton and later Milco Industries in
Benton. She had last worked for
Bloomsburg Carpet for 10 years until her retirement in December 1998.
Mrs. Fritz was a member of
the Stillwater Christian Church and had assisted with the Clothing Give-Away
project for several years. She was also
a member of the Columbia County Historical Society.
Surviving are her children: Douglas H. Fritz, Jr., Berwick; Robert E.
Fritz and his wife, Lynn, of Bendertown; Gloria J. Fritz, of Benton; Michael J.
Fritz and his wife, Angelic, of Benton; 11 grandchildren, 23 great
grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters: Shirley Lamoreaux, Bloomsburg and Ethel
Litwhiler and her husband, David, of Benton.
Along with her parents and
husband, Doug, she was preceded in death by 2 daughters: Linda Sue Fritz in infancy; Betty Bowman on
August 20, 2000; siblings: Marion R. Hess, Charles Owen, Jr., Robert
Owen, Raymond Owen Theodore R. Owen, Russell Owen and another sister that died
in infancy.
Funeral Services will be
held Thursday at 11 A. M. at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock
Road, Benton (S. R. 487) with Pastor Scott Lyons, Stillwater Christian Church,
officiating. Viewing, Thursday from 10 AM until the time of the Service at
McMichael's. Burial will be in the
Waller Cemetery, Jackson Township. In
lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Animal Resource Center, P. O.
