Dottie J. (Gearhart) Swires

Dottie J. (Gearhart) Swires, 73, of Divide, Jackson Township, died Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at her home.

Born October 12, 1952 in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Don and Marylou (Eckart) Gearhart.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Daniel S. Swires, on November 27, 2021.

Dottie was a graduate of Northwest Area High School in 1972.  She worked at the Mill Race Golf Course  in Benton  as a waitress/manager for many years.  She was last employed by Denny's Restaurant in Bloomsburg until  her retirement in 2018.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her pets; going to the beach and collecting jewelry.

Surviving are her two children: Kimberly Evans and her husband, Ed; Donnie Rhone and his wife, Debbie, all of Benton.  Also surviving are four grandchildren:  Adam, Eribella, Noah, and Lily; two great grandchildren and a sister, Donna Gearhart and her companion, Jack, of Fairmount Springs. 

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, June 8, 2026 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton with Pastor Scott Lyons, Stillwater Christian Church, officiating.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to help offset final expenses and sent to Kimberly Evans, 43 Fallowbrook Road, Benton, PA 17814 .
