E. Yvonne Lenbergs Obituary

E. Yvonne (Unbewust) Lenbergs died Wednesday, May 14, 2025 in Sunnyvale, California. Born in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, Yvonne was the eldest of three children of the late John and Betty Zane (McHenry) Unbewust and spent her childhood and teenage years in Benton, Pennsylvania.

After graduation from Benton High School, Yvonne attended Penn State University, where she met Harold Lenbergs.  Their subsequent marriage led to a major lifestyle change, as Harry’s career as a naval aviator caused Yvonne and family to relocate frequently and live in many different areas, including Japan, northern and southern California, Florida, Virginia and Texas. They also spent a memorable year traveling around the Mediterranean Sea.

While living in northern California in the 1970’s, Yvonne divorced and returned to pursue higher education, earning a Master’s Degree in psychology.  This led to careers in counseling and in Human Resources management at Intel Corporation. The latter had Yvonne travelling again, as the spent years living and working in Munich, Germany and Dublin, Ireland.  She especially enjoyed the camaraderie of the expatriate community and the ability to explore Europe again, including ancestral towns in Ireland and Germany.

Yvonne retained many close friendships over the years, from the tennis club friends that she met in the 1970’s to international colleagues from her time at Intel, to her condominium complex friends in Palo Alto, California with whom she enjoyed wine tasting, sailing outings, and attending sporting events (Stanford University Women’s Basketball and the San Francisco Giants).  Friends will always remember her competitive nature as exhibited in “friendly” card games!

Yvonne was especially interested in the arts, to the extent that she co-produced Sinners Need Company, an independent Hollywood film.  She enjoyed music, theater and literature.

Yvonne is survived by daughters Ellen and Erikka, son-in-law Thomas Morlini, grandson Andrew, great-grandchildren Michael, Lauren, Ethan and Emily, brother John M. Unbewust (Kelly), sister Jill (Unbewust) Pascale, brother-in-law Joseph Pascale, and nieces and nephews Sarah, Jessica, Nicholas, Joseph and Helena Elizabeth.

A celebration of life gathering and a private interment at Benton Cemetery will take place at later dates.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Yvonne’s memory to the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble (BTE), accessible at bte.app.neoncrm.com.
