Edward Ruckel, 95, formerly of Berwick passed away on March 23, 2026 at the Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dallas, PA.
Born September 5, 1930 in West Nanticoke, a son of the late Bruce and Mildred (Smith) Rockel.
Edward attended Shickshinny High School before he enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve our country. During his military service he was stationed in Germany and then served in the Arlington National Cemetery Honor Guard, an accomplishment he was very proud of. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, working outdoors, attending family functions, and trips to the casino in his later years. He is also a former member of the Shickshinny V.F.W.
He is survived by his children, Edward P. Ruckel of Shickshinny, Gail Homyack of Pittston, and Lori Nesbitt and her husband, Ronald of South Carolina; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Linda Killian and her husband, John of Shickshinny Valley, Janice Sink and her husband, Richard of Beach Haven, and Thelma Shoemaker of Shickshinny.
In addition to his parents, Edward is preceded in death by his wife, Georgean Ruckel; two grandchildren, Ralph and Eddie Paul; brothers, Walter and Eugene Ruckel; and a daughter-in-law, Debbie Ruckel.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date to be announced by the family.
