Edward L. Savidge, 71, of rural Benton (Pine Township) died late Thursday evening, August 22, 2019 at UPMC Susquehanna, Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Born August 20, 1948 in Danville, he was a son of Joyce C. (Miller) Savidge, of Sunbury and the late Ralph E. Savidge. He and his wife, Marjorie (Read) Savidge, celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on February 13th.
Ed was a 1966 graduate of Shamokin High School and then enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps where he attained the rank of Corporal. He served on active duty in the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one star and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Ed was a member of the former Sheeps Baptist Church and was a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association.
He was a self taught mechanic and enjoyed working on vehicles and motorcycles. He had also coached soccer and was an avid supporter of his children's events.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are his ten children: Helen M. Litwhiler, Christine L. Byers, Jennifer J. Savidge, Scott E. Savidge, William E. Savidge, Bobbie J. Campbell, Shawn A. Savidge, Kurt E. Savidge, Daryl T. Savidge, Regina M. Savidge and a step daughter, Heather Gordon and her husband, Fred. Also surviving are 32 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters: Sandy Yordy and Yvonne Ross and two brothers: Dean and Kenneth Savidge.
Memorial Services will be held at the Raven Creek Presbyterian Memorial Hall Saturday, September 21st, 2019 at 1 PM followed by a luncheon. The Rev. O. Allen Lumpkin, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Hillman Cancer Center, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
