Edwin Allen "Ed" Kocher, 82, of Benton Township, died early Thursday morning, April 2, 2026 at Celebration Villa in Berwick.
Born September 27, 1943 in Bloomsburg, he was a son of the late Carl P. Kocher, who died January 28, 2000 and Florence I. (Burwell) Kocher, who died May 5, 2010. He and his wife, Dorothy M. (Dendler) Kocher, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 22nd.
Ed was a 1962 graduate of Benton High School. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U. S. Army from 1966 to 1969 and served a tour in Germany.
He had been employed for many years at PP&L where he was a supervisor. He later worked for Robert Ryman Enterprises for 20 years until his retirement. He also served as the zoning officer for Benton Borough, Benton Township and Sugarloaf Township for many years.
Ed was a member of the Benton United Methodist Church. He was a member of Oriental Lodge, No. 460, F. & A. M. of Orangeville; the Caldwell Consistory of Bloomsburg and the Irem Temple Shrine of Dallas.
An avid outdoorsman, Ed was a member of the Bryan Run Hunting Club in Hills Grove.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Dorothy, are his two sons: E. Allen Kocher, II and his wife, Laura, of Orangeville; Eric C. Kocher and his wife, Kelly, of Benton; five grandchildren: Allison Hack and her husband, Michael; Bradley Kocher and his wife, Samantha; Carly Kocher, Max Kocher and Cale Kocher; a great granddaughter, Mabel Hack as well as a sister, Kay Kline and her husband, David, of Enola.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Kocher-Keller on September 27, 2025.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 6, 2026 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (State Route 487) with Rev. Ken Lewis, Benton Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Orangeville. A viewing will be held Monday from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 at McMichael's. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Patterson Grove Camp Meeting/ Boarding Hall Renovations, 1128 Bethel Hill Road, Shickshinny, PA 18655.
