Elaine Sue Robbins, 77, of Orangeville, died Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital. She had lived at Brookdale, Bloomsburg for two years and then moved to Sunset Ridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Lightstreet.
Born June 21, 1947 at the Berwick Hospital, she was the only child of the late Vernon Bruce Robbins and Eleanor Belle (Fritz) Robbins.
Elaine attended the Orangeville School for grades 1 through 6 and then the Mifflinville School for 7th and 8th grade. She was a member of the first 9th grade class to attend the new Central Columbia High School and graduated in 1966.
During her senior year of high school, she worked for John and Marian Buck at their grocery store on Main Street in Orangeville. When Gary and Karen Hess purchased the Buck store in 1972, Elaine came with the store.
When the Hess's built a new store on Route 487, Elaine worked at the new store. She later worked for Steph's Subs in Bloomsburg until she retired.
Elaine was a member of the Orangeville United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed calligraphy writing and many friends and relatives asked Elaine to address envelopes for weddings, birthdays, etc. She also enjoyed traveling and trips to the beach, especially, Cape May.
Elaine enjoyed talking with people. Many will remember her saying "Get a job!" when coming into the store. Her friends called her "Jakey". She always knew what was going on with the people in the community.
The last member of her immediate family, she is survived by numerous cousins including Janet Robinson; Larry Reichart (Claudia); Randy Reichart (Mary); Paul Reichart (Delores); Gordon Reichart (Mary Anne); Clair Reichart (Connie).
Private Graveside Services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Orangeville. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Orangeville Public Library, the Orangeville Fire Company, the Orangeville United Methodist Church or the Laurel Hill Cemetery Association.
