Emily F. (Goetter) Chewning, 82, of Huntington Mills, died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 6:00 PM at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she had been a patient for nearly two weeks. She had been seriously ill since Labor Day.
Born December 15, 1935 in Dublin, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Emily (Pekar) Goetter. She and her husband, William E. "Bill" Chewning, Sr., celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on May 4th.
Mrs. Chewning attended Central Bucks West High School in Doylestown and had been employed for 22 years for Thomas and Betts in Montgomeryville, PA.
She was a member of the Town Hill United Methodist Church.
Her hobbies included growing African violets, playing scrabble and NASCAR. She was a huge Dale Ernhart, Sr. fan and also rode motorcycles in her younger years.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, Bill, are her four children: Larry Hawk, Jr., of Doylestown; Brenda Nadal, of Quakertown; William E. Chewning, Jr. and his significant other, Paula Burnett, of Doylestown; Susan Hoyt, of Huntington Mills; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was the last member of her immediate family, being preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Nicholas Goetter and a sister Rosie Kurlowich.
Services will be held Sunday, November 4th, 2018 at 1 PM at the Town Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bethany P. Wood, her Pastor, officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Town Hill United Methodist Church, 417 Town Hill Road, Shickshinny, PA 18655 or to the S. P. C.
