Ernest J. Betz

Ernest J. Betz, 86, of Davidson Township, Sullivan County, died early Sunday morning, March 19, 2023 at Sunset Ridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Bloomsburg.

Born August 6, 1936 in Palmyra, Lebanon County, he was a son of Michael and Celia Betz.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Linda L. (Lausch) Betz, who died on May 2, 2015.

He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army.  Mr. Betz was employed by the former Cryder Shoe Factory in Palmyra for many years until his retirement.

His hobbies included gardening, hunting, fishing at the shore, and picking blueberries.  He also enjoyed watching NASCAR races and football, especially the Philadelphia Eagles.

Surviving are his son, James Edward Betz; two sisters:  June George, of Palmyra and Phyllis Eckert, of Elizabethtown; numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful canine, Heidi.  Also surviving are his close friends and neighbors, Brian and Deborah Popp.

Along with his parents, and wife, Linda, he was preceded in death by 10 siblings.
