Eugene A. Derr, Jr., 96, of North Centre Township, died Thursday, May 6, 2021 at his home.

 Born October 10, 1924 in Stillwater, he was a son of the late Eugene A. Derr, Sr. and Gertrude (Letteer) Derr.  He was also preceded in death  by his two wives:  Florence E. (Williams) Derr, who died on April 3, 1989 and Mildred Jean (Moss) Sellers Derr, who died on October 15, 2012.

 Mr. Derr attended the Fernville School and then Bloomsburg High School and Bloomsburg Normal School.

 He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Navy in World War II.  He had been awarded the Philippine Liberation Medal with 2 stars; the Pacific Theater Ribbon with 9 stars; the American Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal. 

 Mr. Derr had been employed by the Magee Carpet Company in Bloomsburg for 34 years and later for McBride Machine Company for 17 years, retiring in 1990. 

 He was an active member of Derrs Christian Church where he had served as a Deacon and Secretary for 25 years.

 He was also a member of the Bloomsburg American Legion and volunteered for numerous Veterans events and activities. 

 His hobbies included fishing, ice fishing and he enjoyed sports in general.

 Surviving are his three children:  Sandra M. Long and her husband, Paul, of Stillwater; Donald E. Derr and his wife, Aline, of Red Lion, PA: Sheila R. Halderman and her husband, Joe, of Orangeville; five grandchildren:  Stacy, Ken, Faith, Shane and Taylor; two great grandchildren:  Brandon and Dalton; a sister, Gretna Beaver, of Fernville as well as numerous step children, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

 Along with his parents and two wives, he was preceded in death by two brothers:  Francis Derr and Gele Derr.

 Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 12th, 2021 at 11 A. M. at the Derrs Christian Church, with Pastor Robert K. Andrews, officiating.  Burial will be in Grovania Cemetery, Montour Township with full military honors.  There will be a viewing from 10 AM until the time of the service on Wednesday at the Church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Derrs Christian Church, 466 Derrs Road, Benton, PA 17814.
