Eugene C. "Gene" Meek, 75, of Jerseytown (Madison Township), died unexpectedly Monday, January 31, 2022 at his home.
Born May 29, 1946 in Madison Township, he was a son of the late John V. and Leota (Nungesser) Meek. He and his wife, Joyce E. (Mulaney) Meek, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on December 31st.
Gene was a 1964 graduate of Millville High School and a 1990 graduate of Bloomsburg University. He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was a long time employee of PPL as an instrument leader, retiring in 2009.
Gene was a member of the Jerseytown United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Oriental Lodge, #460, F. & A. M., of Orangeville.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles, traveling and camping. He especially enjoyed his Welsh Terriers. He was also a private pilot.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Joyce, are his three children: Cory L. Lohr, of Millville; Amy L. Meek and her husband, DeWitt Kavanagh, of Phoenix, Arizona; Patrick T. Meek and his wife, Becky, of Kissimmee, Florida; four grandchildren: Joylee, Bryce, and Blain Lohr and Zoey Meek; four great grandchildren: Aurora, Stephen, Kourtney and Kaden; a brother, John "Bud" Meek and his wife, Martha, of Millville; a sister, Ellen Walk and her husband, Dan, of Jerseytown as well as nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Meek and a sister Barbie Kieffer.
Private Services will be held at the convenience of the Family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
