Frances Wenner Obituary

Frances I. (Turner) Wenner, 86, of Bendertown Road, Orangeville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, January 1, 2026 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Conway, South Carolina.

Born May 4, 1939 in Southdale (Huntington Township), she was the oldest daughter of the late George L. and Grace (Sulcoski) Turner.

Fran graduated grades one through 7th at the former Town Hill one-room school.  Grades 8th through 11th at the former Huntington Mills High School and her senior year from the newly consolidated Northwest Area High School in 1957.

She and her husband, Robert, married in 1961 and resided in the village of Bendertown, Columbia County for most of their married life of 53 years.

She was employed by the American Stores Co. (ACME Markets) after graduation for several years; then the Benton Shirt Company in the office and then for the Blind Assoc.

(Larry and Dee Hess) and lastly for the Heinz Pet Products, which sold out to Del Monte and Impress USA, retiring in June 2005.

She enjoyed working at the Bloomsburg Fair for several years at Gate 5 with many nice co-workers until health problems forced her to give it up.

She was a life-long member of the Town Hill United Methodist Church; a trustee and secretary of  the "Over Fifty Group".  Fran also assisted her husband in apple cider production.  She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister, homemaker and friend.

In her free time, she enjoyed time with family and day trips with friends.  Otherwise, it was mow, mow, mow the grass to keep up  the property.

In addition to her parents, George and Grace Turner, and her husband, Robert, who passed September 9, 2014, she was preceded in death by a younger sister, Karen Fulkersin in August 2015 and by a brother, George Turner.

Surviving are her two daughters:  Michelle R. Maylock (John), of Conway, SC; Tracy Long (Jeff) of Shickshinny;  two grandsons:  Nicholas and Nathan Maylock, of Georgia.  Also surviving is a sister, Elyse Stepanski (Robert), of Southdale; Brothers:  Ronald Turner (Shirley) of Shickshinny; and Eugene Turner (Alice), of Southdale, Shickshinny.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, January 9th, 2026 from 5 to 7 PM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (State Route 487).  Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 10 AM at McMichael's with Rev.
