Obituary

Frank Gaito, of Shickshinny, passed away peacefully Monday, January 30, 2023 at the age of 74, at Guardian Healthcare in Nanticoke after many years battling with his health.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, on June 13, 1948, Frank was the son of the late Frank, Sr. and Naomi (Allcock) Gaito.  Frank was a 1966 graduate of Snyder High School in Jersey City, NJ.  In the following years, he started his own family and began working for General Motors Corp, in Linden, NJ and moved his family to Easton, PA.  Finally, in 1988, he and his daughters moved back to the Shickshinny area where he was employed and later retired from Techneglas in Pittston.

Frank was fortunate to grow up in a somewhat large and very loving and caring family.  He loved his yearly trips to the New Jersey shore where he enjoyed crabbing and fishing.  Though, what he was most proud of about his life, were his two loving daughters and his grandchildren.  Frank will be missed by those who knew and loved him and will be lovingly welcomed by his family members who have gone before him.

In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were his brother, Tony Gaito in 1975; his brother Jim Gaito in 2010; and his loving companion of many years, Carol Sartini in 2021.

Frank is survived by daughter, Janet Cumberland and her husband, Carl, of Benton; daughter, Rachel Wolfe and husband, Jeremiah, of Benton; granddaughter, Alyssa Cumberland; grandson, Samuel Cumberland; sister, JoAnne Gaito, of Guttenburg, NJ; sister, Cathy Spencer and husband, Mark, of Benton; sister, Susan Weaver and husband, Jerry, of Bloomsburg; sister, Lisa Mowery, of Leesburg, VA; nephew, Tony Lawson; nephew, Steve Lawson; niece, Hailey Mowery; and nephew, Max Mowery.

Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Monday, February 6, 2023 at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (State Route 487) with Pastor Scott Lyons officiating.  Friends will be received on Sunday, February 5 from 1-3 PM and on Monday, February 6 from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Interment at St. Martha’s Cemetery will follow the funeral.  The McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., of Benton, is honored to serve the Gaito family.  For online condolences or for additional information, please visit our website:  www.mcmichaelfuneralhome.com.
