Fred L. Stedman, 75, of Mocanaqua, died Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at his home.
Born in Benton on September 1, 1948, he was a son to the late Vincent and Florence (Moyer) Stedman.
Mr. Stedman was a graduate of Benton High School, Class of 1967. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Air Force. Fred was a longtime employee of Strick Trailer in Berwick, retiring in 2007 after nearly 20 years. On July 28, 2001, he wed the former Joan M. Derby. Fred was an avid outdoorsman who liked hunting and fishing. He was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed NASCAR, high school wrestling, and baseball, especially the Phillies. Fred treasured the time spent with his family, by whom he will be dearly missed.
Surviving Fred are his beloved wife, Joan M. (Derby) Stedman, children: Amanda Martinez and companion, Doug McCartney, of Riverside, CA, Wysteria Stedman of Bloomsburg, Desiree Stedman and companion, Levi Karns, of Millville, and Amanda Warner and husband, Eugene Johnson, Sr., of Mocanaqua; grandchildren: Ethan, Owen, Eugene, Jr., Emberlee, Ellowynn, and Stryder; sister, Romaine Grassley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Stedman.
A memorial service will be held Monday, March 18, 2024 at 5 PM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton, PA 17814. Friends will be received from 3 PM until the time of military honors at 5 PM. The McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., of Benton, is honored to serve the Stedman Family.
