George M. Cunningham, 77, of Stillwater, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born October 1, 1948 in Bloomsburg, PA, he was a son of the late James and Vivian (Kern) Cunningham. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann (Wenner) Cunningham who passed away in 2009.
George is a graduate of Southern Columbia High School. He was the Street Superintendent for Catawissa Borough for 32 years, until his retirement in 2006. George enjoyed racing cars and building his own racing vehicles. He was a member of the Dream Machine Motor Club in Bloomsburg. He loved his dogs, mainly owning rescued Greyhounds throughout his life. George will be remembered for his sense of humor and being able to make anybody laugh.
He is survived by his best friend and spouse, Sheila Lewis; his brother, James L. Cunningham and his wife, Jane of Bloomsburg; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 20, 2025; 11 a.m. at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., of Benton, with Pastor Scott Lyons officiating. A viewing will be held on Monday beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. where the family will receive friends. Interment will take place at Elan Memorial Park in Bloomsburg following the service. George requested that people attending the service “come as you are” and not worry about dressing up.
