George D. Heintzelman, 92, of Jackson Township, died Monday evening, February 24, 2025 at the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital.
Born August 14, 1932 in Dornsife, Northumberland County, he was a son of the late John W. and Mary (Polan) Heintzelman. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Agnes Adele (Long) Heintzelman, on June 21, 2011.
He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.
George was employed by Strick Trailer Company in Langhorne for many years and had also worked as a farmer.
He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and babysitting his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching westerns on TV and was an animal lover.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol E. Bogert and her husband, Wayne, of Stillwater;
4 grandchildren: Leland Bogert, Sr. and his wife, Heidi; Janell Pegg and her husband, Robert, Jr.; Brandy Bogert and her fiancé, Jason Howell and Brittany Bogert and her companion, Travis Bitler.
Also surviving are 13 great grandchildren: Leland Bogert, Jr.; Joshua Remley; Angelina Steinbacher; Joshua Bogert; Renee, Adelyn, and Emily Howell; Aaron, Natalie and Scarlett Pegg; Alexa, John and Olivia Bitler; and a sister, Mary Ann Yocum and her husband, Barry.
Along with his wife, and parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 28, 2025 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (Rt. 487) with Pastor Scott Lyons, Stillwater Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the New Columbus Cemetery with full Military Honors. A Viewing will be held Friday from 10 AM until the time of the Service at 11 at McMichael's. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to a Veterans organization of the donor's choice.
