George J. McKeown, 84, of Fairmount Springs, died Friday, October 20th, 2023 at his home.
Born April 15, 1939 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late James and Margaret (Abel) McKeown. He and his wife, Lynne (Yellitz) McKeown, would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on December 8th.
George was a graduate of the West Catholic High School in Philadelphia. He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Air Force. He had been employed by Honeywell as a military contractor, which enabled him to travel the world and service equipment on aircraft carriers, planes and submarines, until his retirement in 2005.
His hobbies included wood working.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Lynne, are his two children: Murray McKeown (Michele), of Limerick; Shelby Fennimore (Robert), of Gilbertsville; five grandchildren: Megan, Amber, Jonathan, Steven, and Kristen; four great grandchildren: Robbie, Sabrina, Nolan and Laurel as well as a brother, Matthew McKeown (Elizabeth), of North Wales.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon J. Lowrie on September 16, 2020 and the following siblings: James, Thomas and William McKeown and Margaret Lawrence.
Funeral Services and Military Honors will be held Saturday, October 28th, 2023 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (State Route 487) with Pastor Mike Bodek, officiating. A Viewing will be held Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the service at McMichael's. Burial will be in the Fairmount Springs Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
