Gerald P. "Jerry" Derr, 77, of rural Bloomsburg, Madison Township, died Thursday, January 18, 2024, surrounded by his family, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born August 10, 1946 at the Bloomsburg Hospital, he was a son of the late Paul and Harriet (Reichard) Derr. He and his wife, Diane M. (Mulaney) Derr, would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on June 18th.
He was a 1966 graduate of Danville High School and then attended Williamsport Area Community College.
Jerry faithfully and honorably served his country in the U. S. Air Force in the Vietnam War.
He had been employed at the Danville State Hospital for most of his working career where he retired in 1997 after 30 years of service.
Jerry was an avid wrestling fan and also enjoyed bowling and hunting.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Diane, are his two sons: Jeff Derr and his wife, Irene, of Wilkes-Barre; Michael Derr and his wife, Beth, of Benton; seven grandchildren: Sean, Hunter, Hailey, Sarah, Kearsten, Zeke and Logan; two great grandchildren: Marcel and Ava and a brother, Dennis Derr and his wife, Mary Ann, of Virginia.
Private Services will be held at the convenience of the family. The McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., of Benton, is honored to serve the Derr Family.
