Gladys M. (Smith) Riegel

Gladys Marilyn Smith Riegel, age 88, of Unityville, Pennsylvania, passed away October 26, 2025, at Maria Joseph Manor in Danville, Pennsylvania, after a series of health issues.

Born in 1936 in Muncy, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Ernest Monroe and Celia Edna Worthington Smith.

Gladys graduated from Hughesville High School in 1954. She worked several jobs as a seamstress and in the family business before retiring. She devoted her retirement to caring for and supporting her family. She was married to Glenn Riegel Sr. for 37 years until his death in 2005.

Gladys is survived by her children David Smith Sr. (El) and Glenn Riegel Jr. (Diane); grandchildren David Smith Jr. (Rie) and Zach Riegel; and great-grandchildren Kofuyu and Hakua.

Her family remembers her for steady love, quiet strength, and the care she gave across generations. The family will hold a celebration of life later in the year; details will be shared when arrangements are finalized.
