Glen Ashelman Obituary

Glen D. Ashelman, 75, of Benton Township, died Sunday, April 12, 2026 at Emmanuel Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Danville where he had been a resident for the past month.

Born December 23, 1950 at the old Berwick Hospital, he was a son of the late Doyle L. Ashelman, who died September 20, 1990 and Helen M. (Briggum) Ashelman, who died July 21, 2009.  He and his wife, Judith A. (Janney) Ashelman would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on May 7th.

Glen was a 1969 graduate of Benton High School.  While in high school, he was a member of 4-H and Future Farmers of America.  He worked part time as needed for Benton Township and was co-owner and operator of Gotta-Gro Farms in Benton Township for 48 years.  In his younger years, he had also worked for the former Collins Tools Co. in Stillwater and more recently was employed by Penn-DOT for 10 years.

He was a member of St. James United Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon and was a past president of St. James Cemetery Association.  He was treasurer of the local Eastern Milk Producers; a delegate for Milk Marketing, Inc. as well as a delegate for Dairy Farmers of America.  He was also an auditor for Benton Township and a member of the North Mountain Fire Company where he served as bookkeeper.

An avid outdoorsman, Glen also enjoyed hunting and was known to be a "jack-of-all-trades".  He especially loved spending time with his family and was known to be a caring, respectful and kind-hearted soul, always willing to lend a hand to help anyone.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Judith, are his son, Timothy W. Ashelman; a brother, Richard Ashelman and a sister, Dorothy L. Long as well as nieces and nephews.
