Gregg Hoover Obituary

Gregg Sheldon Hoover, 70, of Sweet Valley, went to be with the Lord on June 12th, 2026.  He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family, which was his proudest accomplishment.

Born February 18, 1956 in Kingston, he was a son to Shirley Elaine (Boston) Judge and Sheldon Boyd Hoover.  Gregg grew up with a strong sense of faith, family and friendship.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling, but most of all he loved just spending time with his family, grandkids, and friends.  He coached Little League and Teener's Baseball for many years, throwing countless pitches and running the concession stand.

He was an active member of the Bethel Hill Bible Church and served as the Adult Sunday School Teacher and Lay Speaker for the Charge for many years.  He also loved playing Santa Claus for the Children's Hospital at CMC in Scranton.

On May 16th, he celebrated 50 years of being married to his best friend,  Ann Louise (Rittenhouse) Hoover.  Their love and commitment to one another stands as a blueprint to their children for what the vows "to honor and cherish, in sickness and in health" truly means.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Beth (Hoover) Hess.

Surviving, along with his wife, Ann Louise, are a daughter, Carrie Regner and her husband, Matt and their son, Ethan; a son, Wade Hoover and his wife, Morgan and their children, Boston and Kendalynn.  He loved being Gramps!

Gregg is also survived by his sister, Terry and her husband, Andy; his brother, Tom and his wife, Kim and his brother-in-law, Michael.  In his role as Uncle Gregg, he was influential in the lives of many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 20th, 2026 at 11 AM at the Bethel Hill Bible Church with  Rev. Mike Bodek, officiating.  A Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:30 until the time of the Service at 11 at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Bethel Hill Bible Church or to a charity of your choosing in honor of Gregg.
