Harold Moss Obituary

Harold W. Moss, 96, of Sugarloaf Township, died early Thursday morning, July 15th, 2021 at the Gardens at Orangeville.

Born May 3, 1925 in Shavertown, Luzerne County, he was a son of the late Rollie S. and Grace (Gallup) Moss.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor G. (Driesbaugh) Moss, on May 13, 2019.

Mr. Moss was a 1943 graduate of Benton High School and was employed in construction and as a farmer and in hotel maintenance.  He retired in 1990.

He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army and the U. S. Air Force, serving in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.  He served for more than 22 years in active duty and then 8 years in the Reserves.

Mr. Moss was a member of the Benton V. F. W., the American Legion, the Air Force Sergeant's Association of Suitland, Maryland; the National Association for Uniformed Services, of Springfield, Virginia; the American Military Society of Washington, DC; the Military Benefit Association of Washington, DC; the Susquehanna Valley World War II Veterans, AARP and the AMAC.  

Surviving are his three children:  Brenda Shultz, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Timothy Moss and his wife, Tammy, of Texas; Tamara Moreland, of Clarksville, Tennessee; three grandchildren; two step sons:  Scott A. Stevens and Eric D. Stevens and his wife, Amy, all of Benton; four step grandchildren and three step great granddaughters; a brother,

Richard Moss and his wife, Pat, of Milan, PA: and a sister, Marilyn Seward and her husband, Marvin, of Red Rock.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by the following siblings:  David W. Moss, Mildred Jean Sellers Derr, Elsie Mahoney, Betty Fritz, Robert Moss and Ralph Moss.

Graveside Services and Military Honors will be held Tuesday, July 20th, 2021 at 1 PM at the Raven Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to any Veterans or Military organization.
