Harry E. Angle, Sr., 100, of Sugarloaf Township, died early Friday morning, November 24, 2023 at the Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Danville.
Born August 8, 1923 in Shippensburg, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late David K. and Grace E. (Spangler) Angle. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Ellen J. (Ferguson) Angle, on September 18, 2016.
Mr. Angle attended Shippensburg Schools and Carson Long Military Academy for Boys in New Bloomfield, PA.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. He served with the 280th Refrigeration Unit in Italy and North Africa. He had been awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the EAME Theater Medal with 3 Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Angle was employed as a truck driver for Sun Oil Company in Marcus Hook, PA, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Central. He was also a member of the Benton V. F. W.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed bowling and was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan.
Surviving are his children: Susan Clark and her husband, Thomas; Harry E. "Hank" Angle, Jr. and his wife, Lenore; Keith J. Angle; and two grandchildren, Tommy and Paula.
Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: Margaret Winkel; David Angle and by twin sisters: Kathryn Tiley and Grace Elrick Brewster.
Services will be held Thursday, November 30th, 2023 at 11AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton, with Pastor Todd Davis and Pastor Howard Leh, officiating. A Visitation will be held Thursday from 10 AM until the time of the Service at 11. Burial will be in the Benton Cemetery with full military honors.
