Helen B. "Pat" (Brace) Hess

Helen B. "Pat" (Brace) Hess, 94, formerly of Bonnieville Road, Stillwater, died early Saturday morning, July 15th, 2023 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Karl G. and April Hess, in Forest, Virginia.

Born May 11, 1929 in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Sheldon and Ruth (Stahl) Brace.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Karl N. Hess, on December 31, 2017.

Mrs. Hess was a lifelong educator.  She taught school at the Northwest Area School District and then was the Elementary School Superintendent for many years.   After that she helped found the Muhlenberg Christian Academy where she served as the school administrator until her retirement at age 70.  

She was a member of the Cornerstone Bible Church in Nescopeck.  She was also a long-time member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association.

Mrs. Hess enjoyed being a homemaker and was known for her cooking, baking and canning and crocheting.  

Surviving, are her son, Karl G. Hess and his wife, April, of Forest, Virginia; two grandsons:  Nathaniel and Zachary Hess; two sisters:  Marjorie Bonham, of Hunlock Creek and Ethel Williams of State College.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Sheldon "Bud" Brace, Jr.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 21, 2023 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (State Route 487) with Rev. Neil S.
