Herbert Roland Fritz, 93, of Fishing Creek Township, died early Tuesday morning, August 16th, 2022, at the Gardens of Millville.
Born July 6, 1929, in Fishing Creek Township, he was a son of the late Floyd Raymond Fritz and Fanny Crosby (Dennis) Fritz. He and his wife, Della Jane (Turner) Fritz, who was the love of his life, would have celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on August 25th.
Mr. Fritz was a 1947 graduate of Benton High School and was a lifelong farmer. He implemented many of his own inventions during his farming years and raised dairy cows, beef steers, and chickens and was also an agricultural sales rep for eastern and central Pennsylvania. He always shared the bounty of his garden with others and was well known for his ability to fix almost anything.
In his younger years, he enjoyed playing ice hockey, bowling, and was a member of a bowling league. He also enjoyed roller skating, woodworking, roasting sweet corn for family and friends, traveling and seeing the country.
Herb was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Bloomsburg where he served on the Church Council, was an usher, on the worship and music committee, and a member of the decorating committee.
He was a wonderful father to his four daughters. Herb loved God and raised them to love God by setting an example. He was known to be an ethical, thoughtful, and religious man and loved to meet new people and strike up a conversation.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Jane, are his four daughters: Barbara Lynn Fritz, Orangeville; Linda Jane Romanak and her husband, Joseph, of Harrisburg; Marla Ann Harris and her husband, Alan, of Bloomsburg; Holly Ruth Fry, of Orangeville; a grandson, Mark Christopher Romanak, of Lone Tree, Colorado; two step grandchildren: Linda Jane Harris and Edward Alan Harris; four step great grandchildren and two step great great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings: Carol Betty Tyree, Raymond John Fritz, and Carlton Lee Fritz. He was the last of his immediate family.
Those attending the services are encouraged to dress for a celebration rather than a somber occasion.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 22nd, 2022, at 11 A. M. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg, with Rev. Joel Zeiders, officiating.
