Iris E. (Miller) Hontz

Iris E. (Miller) Hontz, 87, of Union Township, rural Shickshinny, died Friday, August 5th, 2022 at The Gardens at East Mountain, Wilkes-Barre. 

Born July  30, 1935 in Nescopeck, she was a daughter of the late Junior E. and Inez (Stout) Miller.  She was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Hontz on August 3, 2015. 

Iris had worked at Luzerne Outerwear for many years and following her retirement, worked for Bonham Nursing Center for several years.

She was a member of the McKendree United Methodist Church where she enjoyed volunteering at the Church's ice cream socials.  She was also a member of the former McKendree Grange.

Surviving are her two children:  Gary M. Hontz, of Shickshinny; Kathleen "

Kathy" Hazlak and her husband, Dennis, of Picture Rocks; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Carol Ann Shaw, of Shickshinny and a brother, Robert Miller and his wife, Alice, of Shickshinny.  

Along with her parents and her husband, George, she was preceded in death by sisters:  Lorraine Rorick and Lillian Woodworth.

Graveside Services will be held Friday, August 12th, 2022 at 10 AM at the  Pine Grove Cemetery, Harveyville with the Rev. Roger C. Noss, her Pastor, officiating.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the McKendree United Methodist Church, c/o 267 E. Main Street, Nanticoke, PA  18634.
