James David Karnes, 74, of
Lightstreet, died early Thursday morning, April 15th, 2021 at his home.
Born November 28, 1946 at
the Bloomsburg Hospital, he was a son of E. Jean (Evans) Karnes, of Lightstreet
and the late James J. Karnes. He and his wife, Linda M. (Houck) Karnes would
have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on June 24th.
Mr. Karnes was a 1964
graduate of Central Columbia High School and then enlisted in the Army National
Guard. He spent his entire working
career driving truck, both local and long haul, retiring as a dispatcher for T.
L. Miller.
He was a life member of the
Lightstreet Community Fire Company where he served as Fire Chief in the1990's.
Along with his grandsons,
he enjoyed collecting and restoring Wheelhorse tractors.
Surviving, in addition to
his wife, Linda, are his son, Kevin Karnes and his wife Pam, of Orangeville;
two grandsons: Christopher Karnes and
his fiancée Jess Suchodolski,of Washingtonville; Sr. Airman Jonathan Karnes,
currently serving in the U. S. Air Force; two brothers: Richard Karnes, of Orangeville and Philip
Karnes, of Lightstreet; and a sister, Gloria Dawson, of Berwick.
Private Services will be
held at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to thank Geisinger Hospice for their excellent
care and support. In lieu of flowers,
contributions may be made in his memory to the Lightstreet Community Fire
