Obituary

James E. "Jim" Saxe, Sr., 79, of Fairmount Township, died Tuesday evening, September 12th, 2023 at the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital.

Born, March 29, 1944, he was a son of the late Robert Glen Saxe and Dorothy A. (Hess) Saxe. He and his wife, Patsy Ann (Brader) Saxe, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on June 22nd.

Mr. Saxe was a 1963 graduate of Northwest Area High School.

He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Navy and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.   

Mr. Saxe had been employed by Wayne W. Knorr Inc., for 26 years and then was employed by Medico Industries in Wilkes-Barre, until his retirement.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as woodworking.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Pat, are his son, James E. Saxe, Jr. and his wife, Kass, of Hunlock Creek; two granddaughters:  Kameitri Saxe, of Williamstown, NJ and Sequoia Saxe, of Williamsport; two brothers:  Harold Saxe and his wife, Nina, of Sweet Valley; Clarence Saxe and his wife, Nancy, of Sweet Valley; two sisters:  Clara Gower, of Texas and Barbara Bogert and her husband, Ronald, of Sweet Valley; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his canine companion, Rosebud. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert "Ben" Saxe.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (State Route 487) with Pastor Scott Lyons, of the Stillwater Christian Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, with full military honors.  There will be a viewing on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 at McMichael's.
