Janet L. (Slusser) Mowery

Janet L. (Slusser) Mowery, 91, of Berwick, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024 at the Gardens at Orangeville.  Born in Nescopeck on June 27, 1932, she was a daughter to the late Paul and Ruth (Nungesser) Slusser.

Janet attended Nescopeck schools.  For many years she worked as a seamstress, having been employed by Briar Knitting and Barry-Bob Sportswear.  Janet enjoyed coloring, bingo, and card games.  She had loved spending time with her numerous pets and her beloved family.

Surviving Janet are her children:  Virginia Leiby of Berwick, Connie Balliet and husband, Ralph, of Berwick, Cynthia Moore and husband, Curtis, of Berwick, Zella Splain and husband, Robert, of Berwick, Thomas Mowery, and Kaven Mowery of Berwick; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and brother, Roland Slusser, of Nescopeck.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Atlee L. Mowery, who passed away July 12, 1996.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Atlee L. Mowery, Jr., who passed in infancy; daughter, Brenda Gensel; son-in-law, Thomas Leiby; daughter-in-law, Linda Mowery; and siblings:  Charlotte Sassaman, Hazel Carter, Delores Benjamin, Earl Slusser, and William Slusser.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, June 21, 2024 at McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 7394 Red Rock Road, Benton.  Pastor Scott Lyons will officiate.  A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at McMichael Funeral Home, Inc.  Interment at Mifflinville Cemetery will follow the funeral.
