Jeanette Louise (Sutton) Peters, 97, of Stillwater, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord, Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Bloomsburg Care and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her family.
Born September 8, 1925 in Cambra, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Ada (Midland) Sutton.
Mrs. Peters attended the New Columbus Academy. On February 12, 1954, she wed the love of her life, the late Harry Hillman Peters. Together they operated their dairy farm and raised their family. They had many adventures together including concerts, pro wrestling, camping, and trips to Florida. She was a longtime member of Town Hill United Methodist Church. Jeanette was a kind and loving individual, always willing to help someone in need. She took many children under her wing, including adopting 2 children from Korea, adopting 2 grandchildren, and being instrumental in the lives of other family and neighborhood children. She also took in every stray animal that found its way to the farm. Her life was one of selfless giving that impacted many and who will be forever grateful. She will be deeply missed.
Surviving Jeanette are her children: Kim (James) Saultz of Chillicothe, OH, Kelly (Dean) Newhart of Benton, Sarah Peters of Stillwater, and Samantha Wilkinson of Gratz; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, Harry Hillman Peters, who passed away December 28, 1992. She was also preceded in death by son, Charles Peters, and brothers: George, Lloyd, Peter, and Raymond Sutton. Jeanette often shared many funny stories involving her mischievous brothers.
Jeanette was able to live in her own home until the last 5 months of her 97 years. The family would like to thank the staff of the Bloomsburg Care Home, where she received wonderful care and many hugs from the staff while Jeanette would pat their arm and tell them she loved them.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 11 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (State Route 487) with Pastor Tyler Rauhauser officiating.
