Jeffrey A. Creveling, 59, of Riverside, and formerly of the Benton area, went home to be with the Lord on Friday evening, October 2, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center. He had been in declining health for the past several years.
The son of Nancy (Coombs) Creveling, of Stillwater and the late Zane R. Creveling, who died October 13, 2009, he was born on January10, 1961 at the Bloomsburg Hospital.
Jeff was a 1978 graduate of Benton High School. He served in the U. S. Army as a Hospital Food Service Specialist and was stationed with the 32nd Combat Support Hospital in Ludwigsburg, Federal Republic of Germany. At discharge, Jeff returned home and attended Bloomsburg University where he graduated in May 1985 with a degree in accounting. Jeff worked in Restaurant Management for four years. In 1991 he began working for the PA Department of Revenue and earned his CPA certificate. He retired in 2017 as chief of the Taxing Division of the Bureau of Corporation Taxes.
He enjoyed many extracurricular activities. In high school, he was a member of the Business club, the National Honor Society, the Mixed Chorus, the Wrestling team, the Columbia Montour Chapter SPEBSQSA (Barbershoppers) and the St. James UCC youth group. In college, Jeff was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity and college Radio WBSC. Later in life he joined the Lions Club and was a member of the Danville Community singers. Jeff was also a PIAA Wrestling official for 25 years where he was secretary for the Bloomsburg Wrestling Officials and was a certified lay speaker in the United Methodist Church.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Zane R. Creveling and his mother-in-law, Lucille Stasko. Surviving are his wife, Rebecca Creveling and a son, Cody Creveling, both of Riverside; his mother, Nancy Creveling, of Stillwater; a sister, Jean MacDermott and her husband, David; a nephew, Keith MacDermott, all of Stillwater; father-in-law, George Stasko and a sister-in-law, Ellen Baxendale; a nephew, Tristan Baxendale and a niece Victoria Baxendale, all of Endicott, New York.
Due to the covid-19 pandemic, a private Celebration of Jeff's life will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in St. James Cemetery, Fishing Creek Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Peter's UMC, Boy Scout Troop 33 and Cub Pack 33, Riverside, PA or to the Columbia Montour Council, BSA, 5 Audubon Court, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
