Jennie Elizabeth (Oberlin) Ashenfelder

Jennie Elizabeth (Oberlin) Ashenfelder, 93, died on Saturday, May 14, 2022, in the CIC Unit of the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA.  She was born on January 22, 1929 to Guy and Virginia (Boop) Oberlin of Mifflinburg, PA.  Jennie attended school in Milton, PA.  After graduation she worked at JJ Newberry Store in Milton, PA; Montgomery Mills in Montgomery, PA; Chef Boyardee and Rea & Derick Drugstore, both in Milton, PA.

On January 17, 1948, she married Bryce Ashenfelder and was married for 69 years until his death on July 10, 2017.  Jennie was always a stay-at-home wife and mother and had three sons:  Ronald Ashenfelder (Jane) of Berwick, PA; Dennis Ashenfelder (Debra) of Stillwater, PA; and Bruce Ashenfelder (Blanche), of Berwick, PA.

She had three sisters and two brothers:  Betty Pardo (George) of Lewisburg, PA; Bernadine Waltman (Jim) of Lewisburg, PA; Ruth Snyder (Richard) of West Milton, PA; Marlin Oberlin (Faye) of New Berlin, PA; and Harold Oberlin of Mifflinburg, PA.  Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Crystal; infant brother, Harold; and sister, Betty Pardoe.

Jennie had six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Jennie was a member of Stillwater Christian Church, Stillwater.

Services will be held Friday, May 20, 2022 at the Stillwater Christian Church, 39 McMichael Street, Stillwater, PA, with Pastor Jeffrey Farley officiating.  A viewing will be held beginning at 2:00 PM until the start of service at 3:30 PM.  Memorial contributions can be made to Stillwater Christian Church, 39 McMichael Street, Stillwater, PA.  Arrangements are being handled by the McMichael Funeral Home, 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton, PA.  For online condolences or for additional information, please visit our website:  www.mcmichaelfuneralhome.com.
