Jerome "Jerry" K. Shimmel

Jerome "Jerry" Kenneth Shimmel, 53, formerly of Osceola Mills passed into God's loving arms on Sunday, July 25th, 2021 at his home.

Born September 29, 1967, he was the son of Kenneth and Gail Shimmel.  He graduated from Phillipsburg-Osceola Area High School.  He married Brenda Michael in November 1994, who survives him.

Jerry was in the Air Force for four years.  He came home and went to work at the brickyard in Irvona.  He met Brenda while on leave from the Military and they married shortly afterwards.  They had a concession business and traveled with that.  Through the years Jerry also became a member of the Masonic Lodge. 

He was  preceded in death by his father, Kenneth and by a brother, Kenneth.

Surviving are his loving mother, Gail Shimmel, of Osceola Mills; his sister, Barbara and her husband, Daryl Kenney of Hamburg; brother, Richard and wife, Kim, of Chambersburg; brother, Jim and his wife, Cindy, of Lake City, Florida; and brother, Dwight "Bill" and his wife, Kim, of Tyrone. 

Jerry also had a step son, Kelley Michael and his life partner, Jen.  He also had two grandchildren; Hunter and Avery and two great nieces, Emma and Alexandria; three nephews:  James, Will and Zach and two nieces:  Jessica and Sidney; an aunt, Diane Twist and many, many cousins and second cousins. 

Jerry's cousin, Kenneth Brian Sawtelle, was his right hand and arm throughout life.  He and his life partner, Elaine Miley and daughter, Adeline lived close and were a very significant part of his and Brenda's lives. 

Funeral  Services will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Wilkes-Barre V. A. Medical Center, 1111 East End Blvd., Wilkes-Barre, PA  18711 or to the CMA Church, 112 Trcziyulny Street, Osceola Mills, PA   16666.
