Joan C. (Davis) Walton, 88, of Berwick, died late Monday evening, May 27th, 2019 at the Gardens at Orangeville, where she had been a resident since April 16th.
Born February 16, 1931 in Hazleton, she was a daughter of the late Evelyn (Taylor) Kelchner. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Richard K. "Dick" Walton, on May 1, 2004.
Mrs. Walton was a 1949 graduate of Berwick High School. In her younger years, she had been employed by Wise Potato Chip Company and the Berwick AC&F. She later worked for Bloomsburg State College, now known as Bloomsburg University, as the Administrative Assistant to the Registrar until retirement. She was a member of the Bloomsburg University Retirees and enjoyed attending their monthly luncheons.
She was an active member of the Berwick Assembly of God Church where she was the last surviving charter member of the Church. Joan was a longtime organist for the Church and had been honored for her 80 years of music ministry. She was also a member of the Joy Club of the Church.
She enjoyed playing golf, bowling, tennis, Dominos, Yahtzee, playing the piano and going to the beach.
Surviving are her three daughters: Brenda VanAken and her husband, David, of Mifflinville; Debra Ebersole and her husband, Barry, of Centreville, MD; Lisa Marie Waugh and her husband, Gerard, of Berwick; two granddaughters: Rebecca VanAken-Folker and her husband, Matthew, of Chestertown, MD; Taylor Alger and her husband, Willis, of Wilmington, Delaware; a great grandson, Kaleb Alger; three step grandchildren: Gerard Waugh, III and his wife, Carol, of Coal Township; Kristopher Waugh and his wife, Victoria, of Catawissa; Shawn Waugh and his wife, Kristi, of Trevorton; 5 step great grandchildren; Madyson, Allyson, Grant, Lincoln and Morgan Waugh. She is also survived by her loving dog, "Princess Lucy".
Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 31st, 2019 at 11 A.M. at the Berwick Assembly of God Church, 801 E. Fifth Street, Berwick, with the Rev. Stephen Potutschnig and Rev. Scott Winter, her Pastors, officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut Street, Berwick with a luncheon to follow in the Church fellowship hall. A Viewing will be held Friday at the Church from 9 AM until the time of the Service.
