John I. Evans, 66, of Paxinos and formerly of the Benton area, died Sunday, September 18, 2022 at his home.
Born August 24, 1956 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Winifred Evans Cole. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret J. "Peg" (Hollinger) Evans, on April 6, 2021.
Mr. Evans attended Benton Schools and had faithfully served his country in the U. S. Navy. He had been employed as a truck driver for VanHoekelen Greenhouses, Inc., McAdoo.
An avid outdoorsman, John enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his two daughters: Tabitha L. Evans, of Bloomsburg and Jasmine Rundle and her husband, Cody, of Unityville; 6 grandchildren: Owen, Harper, Pyper, Hailey, Reese and Samuel; a brother, Doug Cole, of Harrisburg; a sister, Carrie Schaffer and her husband, Eric, of Central; his four step children: Jennifer Mills, Bloomsburg; Jessica Gardner and her husband, Christopher, Sunbury; Stephanie Letteer and her husband, Matt, of Danville; Steven C. Gregory and his wife, Stefany, of Coal Township; eight step grandchildren: seven step great grandchildren and three step sisters: Diane Southard, Omaha, Nebraska; Bonnie Cole, of Milton, FL; Kandy Fisher, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Sugarloaf Township.
