John W. "Bill" Talanca

John W. “Bill” Talanca, 70, of Benton and formerly of Berwick, passed away peacefully Monday, June 19, 2023 at his home with family at his side.  Born in Berwick on October 23, 1952, he was a son to the late Peter and Margaret Jean (Mageovage) Talanca.

Bill was a graduate of Berwick High School, Class of 1970.  For many years he drove school bus, having been employed by Bower Bus Company, Fishing Creek Transportation, and Rhinard Transportation.  He was a member of Elks BPO Berwick Lodge #1138.  Bill enjoyed woodworking, music, and arguing politics with his friends.  He loved spending time with his beloved family, by whom he will be deeply missed.

Surviving Bill is his loving wife, Angela M. (Kehoe) Talanca, with whom he would have celebrated 13 years of marriage on July 17.  He is also survived by his children:  John. W. Talanca, Jr. and wife, Autumn, of Berwick and Melissa A. Talanca Stoker of Berwick; stepchildren:  Abbey Otero of Philadelphia, Sarah Goble of Plymouth, Oliver Goble of Berwick, Bella Goble of Millville, and Jack Brecht of Benton; sister, Marianne Talanca and BFF, Cheech; brothers: Thomas Talanca and Rick Talanca and wife, Gina; grandchildren:  Michael and wife, Nicole, Nickolas, Alex, Emily, Morgan, Emma, Brandt, and Guinevere; great-granddaughter, Isabelle; and his beloved dog, Charlie.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by brothers:  Peter Talanca and Robert Talanca.
Bill’s family would like to thank the medical team at the Geisinger Knapper Clinic, as well as the staff at Compassus Hospice, for the excellent care that they provided him throughout his illness.

All are welcome to join Bill’s family for a Celebration of Life at 6 PM Monday, June 26, 2023 at The McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton.  Friends will be received from 5 PM until the time of the service.  Memorial contributions in Bill’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
