Joy Ann (Mosteller) Hack, 83, of rural Benton (Sugarloaf Township), died Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at her home.
Born July 13, 1942 in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Roy A. Mosteller, Sr. and Carrimae (Welliver) Mosteller. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Dean Russell Hack, Sr., in 2013.
Joy was a 1960 graduate of Berwick Area High School. She then attended the Wilkes-Barre General School of Nursing where she earned her R.N. degree in 1963. She also was a 1993 graduate of Misericordia University.
She had been employed for many years at the Berwick Hospital. She later worked for Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania where she retired from in 2007.
Joy was an active member of the Oakdale Independent Community Church in Hunlock Creek where she served as treasurer, a Pastor Parish Relations Committee member and served on the Helping Hands Missions Group.
She enjoyed being a homemaker and her hobbies included sewing, quilting, puzzles, reading, cooking and baking.
Surviving are her two children: Beth Ann Patterson and her husband, Matthew, of Sweet Valley; Dean R. Hack, Jr. and his wife, Robyn, of Huntington Mills; her grandchildren: Chase Patterson, Courtney (Hack) Jones and her husband, Joshua and Peyten Hack; a great granddaughter, Joslynn Jones; a brother, Gary A. Mosteller and his wife, Barbara, of Covington, KY; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Mosteller, of Coatesville, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Dean, she was preceded in death by a brother, Roy A. Mosteller, Jr., in 1994.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Oakdale Independent Community Church, 485 Oakdale Drive, Hunlock Creek, with Pastor Roger C. Noss, Jr., officiating. A Viewing will be held Wednesday from 10:30 AM until the time of the service at 11:30 at the Church. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery, Hunlock Creek. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Oakdale Independent Community Church, c/o Gayle Patterson, 463 Old Tavern Road, Hunlock Creek, PA 18621.
